Digital Print | 07: Preparing Fabrics for Steaming | Next >>
1. Layout a CLEAN steaming cloth on a print table with tiers facing the window and cover with one clean sheet of flat newsprint which is larger than your piece of printed fabric.

2. Lay your printed piece of fabric flat on top of the newsprint so that none of the printed fabric is out with the newsprint/steaming cloth area. Lay the longer edge of the newsprint and fabric along the edge of the steaming cloth that has the tiers.

3. Cover your print with another clean sheet of flat newsprint.

4. Pin every six inches or so through all the layers, along the edge that has the tiers, there is no need  to pin down the sides or the bottom of the fabric. Trim off any excess newsprint that is out with  the  steaming cloth.

5. Hang the steaming star on its holding hook.

6. Pick up the folded part of the cloth in your right hand and pick up the remaining end with your left. Start to hook the tiers onto the star with your left hand - starting in the center of the star then spiraling outwards.

7. Finally use some blue toweling and 'thread' them between ALL the tiers so there are NO gaps where condensation from the steamer can fall into the steaming cloth and onto your fabric.

8. Hang the steaming cloth on the star, making sure that you use ALL the tiers and that they are all taking equal strain, this will prvent any part of the steaming cloth from touching the bottom of the steamer. Finally use some blue toweling and 'thread' them between ALL the tiers so there are NO gaps where condensation from the steamer can fall into the steaming cloth and onto your fabric.
