NOTE: Although every effort is made to minimise ‘marking’ on the fabric the printer can not guarantee a clean print.

NOTE: Although every effort is made to minimise ‘de-skewing’ of the fabric after washing. the printer can not guarantee a straight print after washing.

1. Drag your design file icon onto AVA’s icon in the dock (2nd icon down in the dock).
   
 
   
2. IMPORTANT: Launch AVA CMS Controller (Colour Management System) 4th icon down in the dock.
   
 
   
  Click on the Printer Profile button and choose the fabric profile for the fabric you wish to have your design printed on, then click on the 'Choose' button
   
 
   
3. Back in AVA select File > Page Setup then Click on the 'Set from Document' button then 'OK'
   
 
   
4. From the AVA menu select Window > Layout (CMD + Y)
Your design will now be seen in the Layout window
If your design does NOT appear, make your Quick Colourways window active then choose
Colourways > New (CMD + K)
 
   
  If your design is still not visible, make your design window active then with the option key held down, choose Layers > Split a copy then select Window > Layout (CMD + Y) and Colourways > New (CMD + K)
   
5. From the AVA menu select File > Page Setup
In the AVAServer Mimaki window check that Page is set to custom
Enter the width of the fabric you want to print on, (see the 'Digi fabric widths & costs.rtf' file)
Enter the height of the fabric you think you will need.
Check that the 'Tile Output, B&W, Flip Horizontal and Draft boxes are unchecked.
Finally check that 720 is selected from the Resolution Drop down menu, if you are printing a file that is 2Mtrs or greater in length, choose the 180 option from the Resolution Drop down menu, then click 'OK'
 
   
 
   
6. Now make your image active by clicking on it, When it's active you will see 8 ‘Nodes’ surrounding it.
   
 
   
  The word ‘Nodes’ refers to the tiny edge/corner points which users can click and drag to resize or re-proportion a selected object in Quick Colourways.
   
7. From the Colourways menu choose 'Fit frame to content'
You may need to use the de-magnifying glass (Alt, Cmd + spacebar) to be able to view more of
the page on screen.
When using the de-magnifying glass make sure you click on the page and NOT on your image,
if you did click on your image your actual image will shrink and would subsequently be printed at that reduced size.
 
   
 
   
8. You can now place the cursor on your image and click & hold to move it to where you want it to
print on your fabric.
For positioning - be aware of the grid options - from the AVA menu select View and scroll down to Grid,
from this Grid window you can change the size of the grid and turn on & off the 'Snap to' option.
 
   
 
   
9. To place your other images on the page have your QuickColourways window showing in the left hand screen and the folder that has your other designs open and showing in the right hand screen.
Now drag and drop your files from your folder into the QuickColourways window.
Remember to choose 'Fit frame to content' from the Colourways menu for each image.
If you need more height to your page return to the Page Setup window and increase the height
as necessary.
 
   
 
 
   
  SAVING THE FILE FOR PRINT
   
1. From the AVA menu choose File > 'Save As'. Choose AVA 3 from the drop down Format options. Navigate and save your new AVA 3 file in the folder that have your original images.
 
   
 
   
2. From the AVA menu select Window and scroll down and choose your QuickColourways file
   
3. From the File menu choose Print
In the 'AVAServerMimaki' window make sure that the 'All' radio button is selected then click
the 'Save As' button, NOT the 'Save' button.
 
   
 
   
  Give your print file an appropriate name - YourName, Year, Dept,( Abbreviation of Fabric), Height of print
e.g. Jim 3rdTex (OS) 50cm - DO NOT end the print file title with .ava3.
Navigate and save your print file in the folder that have your original images.
   
 
   
  TO TRANSFER YOUR PRINT FILE TO THE AVA SERVER
   
1. Click on the AVA Server icon near the bottom of the dock
   
   
 
either
or
   
   
  and click on 'Open in Finder' then double click the drop box in the 'AVAServers Public Folder'
   
2. Drag your 'Print' file e.g. Jim 3rdtex (OS) 50cm to the newly opened Drop Box.
Your print file is now being transferred to the server.

ANY FILES THAT ARE PLACED INTO THE AVA SERVER DROPBOX WILL BE PRINTED AND THE STUDENT CHARGED FOR THE FABRIC AND DYES USED
