About FERG
Welcome to our Web page!
FERG was set up in 1997. It was created as the interest of the School of Mechanical and Offshore Engineering was growing on the fluids side. Several research and students projects now involve fluids dynamics or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and the influence of environmental engineering has expanded significantly.
The idea of the group is to gather the people doing related research together to communicate their ideas, results, problems (technical and theoretical), etc, all of it in a cheerful atmosphere. To this end meetings are held on a monthly basis and a newsletter is published quarterly. We also have a community group on the RGU Virtual Campus
At each meeting, either a researcher or an external guest presents their work related to fluids and/or environmental technology. This is followed by a (usually very active) discussion on the topic presented.
The FERG members carry out research in two main areas
Sustainable resource technology
Offshore technology
The group currnently has nearly 30 members and this is constatly expanding as the reseach activities of the school expands.
