He is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with experience as a quantity surveyor in private practice and as an academic. Professor Pollock has a special interest in building procurement procedures. He is the author and co-author of a number of recent technical papers.
His current interests are in the areas of disputes in construction contracts (he is a Registered Construction Adjudicator), value management, performance specification and education programmes for construction students. He is a member of various local and national committees of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, has been a subject assessor for SHEFC and QAA, is a member of the QAA Benchmarking team and is a past Chairman of the Association of Heads of Surveying
