Personal Statement
My research expertise includes the pedagogies of e-learning and innovative technologies, which includes assessment and feedback practices, the use of portfolios and personal development planning (PDP) in developing skills, capabilities and enhancing the students’ learning experience. This has resulted in my appointment as independent expert for two EU funded Tempus Projects on curriculum design, assessment and quality assurance in the Russian Federation and Serbia.I have advised on some of the PDP research in the Art School working with Julian Malins, and have also worked closely with John Baldacchino on issues of critical pedagogy, especially in the supervision of the pedagogic aspects of Alejandra Rodriguez-Remedi’s doctoral research on ‘Art as a Means of Cultural Integration’ in the context of South America (completed 2008). I am the editor of a new on-line journal ‘Interactive Discourse’ which focuses on the pedagogy of higher education learning and teaching and reflective practice.
My RAE research outputs contribute to the School's Art and Design Pedagogy thematic.
