Four undergraduate students from Gray’s School of Art have had examples of their work critiqued by experts in a prestigious computing magazine.

Projects by Ewan McLeod, Neil Henderson, Ben Thomson and Jonathan Li, submitted as part of their BDes Digital Media course, were featured in the  ‘Computer Arts’ magazine, along with evaluations from course leader Cameron Craddock, and digital media expert, Jim McCauley.

Singled out for particular praise was Ewan McLeod. Winning a competition run by Channel 4 IDEASFACTORY Scotland gave him the opportunity to collaborate with Eyeline Media to produce a short film with the theme Design Against Crime. Fellow students Ben Thomson and Jonathan Li worked with an external client to develop a PC game aimed at educating children about the dangers and costs of vandalising public transport, while Neil Henderson created a website that provides artists, designers and illustrators from Gray’s with a platform to promote their work online.

Subject Leader, Cameron Craddock, praised the students’ work. “The students applied appropriate research and design methods and technologies at the level of professional practice. From the course’s point of view it's also promising to see the students’ work being recognised at a national level.”
