Statement:
The love of stories, and the act of storytelling, is perhaps the most pervasive and universal art of our culture. Before the days of writing, spoken word was the only means of communicatinon, and stories a treasured and essential part of everyday life.
I am increasingly influenced and consumed by the infinate corpus of folklore and fairy tales. Inspired greatly by the Grimm brothers, devoured into their enchanting world of marchen.

Expressed through the use and exploration of several practices. Predominantly figuratively, I aimed to capture the fervent beauty, the grotesque and the enchantment within folklore. Depicting how the Grimm's traditional stories have saturated popular culture. Portraying their exuberence withing the narrative, through the sensitivity of my personal and poetic language.
