Title
Ladies' Night

Statement
Within my work I aim to produce paintings that examine the idea of femininity as masquerade, producing performances, almost stage like scenes which look at the cross-over between vanity, greed, shame and destruction. The scenes take place within a voyeuristic framework of desire and self harm which I believe almost describes the quite curiously violent path that I have encountered as a woman.

The role-playing that I perform every day to call myself a woman, to see myself before I am seen. It is within these grounds that I survive and become. Within the feminine identity, lies the strange hell of beauty that, for me, is more than a need it is passionately desired.
