Statement
My work is inspired by the range of textures, shapes and movement found within seascapes. My particular area of interest is the transient nature of the sea and the ecology surrounding the tidal area. Working mainly in wax, oil paint and scrim, I have created tactile pieces, which explore complexity of line. The use of texture also intrigues me, adding depth and movement, while leading the eye around each piece.
My intentions are to select organic images which capture the moment and preserve the beauty of a scene. Using known elements in an unexpected manner, my paintings convey a new experience and encourage the viewer to create a narritive of their own. |
