Title:
Found Objects Number 1

Statement:

My art takes its inspiration from found objects. Interested in the detritus found on the seashore, I take these discarded items, ground down by the action of the waves, sand and shingle and use them as subject matter.

Such mundane objects, no longer of use to their original owners and tossed carelessly (and anti-socially) into the sea, are subject to a strange metamorphosis. They cease to resemble their original form, becoming enigmatic and intriguing shadows of their former selves and imbued with a new life.

I find it very satisfying that rubbish and waste can be transformed in this wholly unexpected fashion.

Random transformation of utilitarian objects into strange and unfamiliar shapes has endless appeal for me.
