Statement
Edgar Allan Poe, in his short story “The Fall of the House of Usher”, described the way objects and light can come together to create a feeling of the uncanny. In my work I explore this idea through looking at my surroundings and the way some objects and scenes that I come across when out walking have this sense that thy shouldn’t be there but are at the same time inherently right. These scenes and objects I then use to create my stories.
My paintings take the form of mixed media on plywood. The wood to bring a history to the work which is then mixed with different ways of representing image to challenge our perception of reality.
