Title
Glacial Crevasse

Statement
By experimenting with the idealistic representation of landscapes I have produced a
series of paintings that reflect my personal interpretation of our surroundings. These
images are not necessarily true to reality but are a reflection of my concepts and
experiences, an individual viewpoint on the world. While vision is important we all see
things differently. The problem that I have explored this year is, "Whether defective
vision influences an artists work, or whether the mind compensates for visual
discrepancies." If an artist sees an image, either out of focus or distorted in some
way, will he automatically use his earlier memories, his mind and soul, to correct the
optical problem or will he faithfully depict what he truly sees?
