Title
Blue Dog

Statement
In my paintings I am interested in placing people together in situations where the environment alters their mood and perceptions. I like to juxtapose humans next to buildings and highlight their need to seek beauty, usefulness or protection. Contrasting ancient civilization with the present interests me. Looking at other cultures has helped me to go beyond appearances to underlying psyche and identity.  I have discovered how paint can be used in a particular manner to describe something literal or more loosely and then try to reconcile the two.  I have found painting incurs certain decision making which can then lead to freer instincts. Colour is important to me because it gives emotional depth.
