Statement We live in a society where our opinions concerning the archetypes of victim and perpetrator are colored by the passive and sensational representations of the media. These renditions promote an ambivalence in societal attitudes, creating a form of voyeurism that is defined by feelings of revulsion, yet intrigue. My work explores the triangular relationship between the victim, the perpetrator, and the voyeur. The objective is to offer the voyeur an awareness of their agency in being able to challenge the social response that distorts the true dynamics of the victim / perpetrator relationship, and an invite to discard the taboos that shroud it.
