How do I convert my Word document to PDF format?

With the widespread use of wordprocessors, it is highly likely that a student will have written his/her theses in a format such as Word (.doc file) then go on to have this printed out and bound for submission.

The conversion from Word to PDF is very simple and offers the vast majority of students who have previously, or are currently writing their thesis, to produce a basic ETD for online preservation and access.

:: Open the ETD/Chapter file in Word
:: From the menu choose: File -> Print -> Printer Name
:: Select: 'Acrobat Distiller' (Or the name of the PDF software on machine)
:: Click OK then choose a location to save the new .pdf fiile

The file PDF version will now be available in the chosen location, ready to be uploaded.

Further details relating to the use of PDF for ETDs are available in the FAQ Section
