Past IPE Work in Aberdeen
Throughout the Faculty of Health and Social Care and School of medicine at the Aberdeen universities there has been a strong focus in recent years on developing and integrating interprofessional teaching and learning across the curricula and many changes have been implement to reflect this.
A successful pilot study ran during 2003/4, consisting of interprofessional workshops involving all first year courses across the School of Medicine and Faculty of Health and Social allowed students to explore the different roles of their future professions.
In addition a small cohort of final year medical and pharmacy students have successfully used a virtual classroom environment to work together. Both initiatives were met with strong support from staff and students involved. Details of both initiatives as well as background information to the project can be read in the Pharmaceutical Journal article "How to ensure shared learning becomes a reality: a report from a double agent" written by Lesley Diack.
