IPE Staff present peer teaching of basic life support poster
Friday 14th, October 2011
Aberdeen IPE staff present poster entitled Enhancing students’ teaching skills for basic life support at the 11th Annual Scottish clinical skills network conference, St. Andrews University, 15th & 16th September.
Shown during the 2 day event hosted in Aberdeen, the presentation surmises a recent IPE project funded by CSMEN, that provides a new and innovative context for basic life support (BLS) skill acquisition combining peer teaching and interprofessional education. The acquisition of such skills by undergraduate students enhances the learning curriculum while promoting patient safety.

The presentation is the culmination of a one year project evaluating the teaching of basic life support by medical and nursing students to students from health and social care courses. The project was designed following identification of the need to improve the teaching of basic life support (BLS) within health and social care courses. The project team comprised staff members from Robert Gordon University and University of Aberdeen with expertise in IPE, research and clinical skills.
