The City of Aberdeen

Aberdeen, Scotland's third largest city, is situated on the Scottish North Sea coast at the confluence of the rivers Dee and Don and is a compact city with a population of about 216,000. Once a relatively small fishing port the “ Granite City ”, as it is known due to its splendid granite architecture is now a vibrant and cosmopolitan city with a high quality of lifestyle resulting from its trading, tourism, farming, fishing businesses.

Of course more recently it has become the hub of the world's offshore energy network and is the off-shore oil capital of Europe . The city is full of charm and character and is only a short distance away from beautiful countryside and mountain scenery. London, Paris, Amsterdam and many other British and European cities have flights into and out of Aberdeen daily and this combined with well maintained high quality road and rail links belies Aberdeen’s image as a remote northerly city.

The city hosts a variety of alternative and international festivals annually and boasts an impressive range of art galleries and museums, a number of modern shopping centres and a traditional market on the last Saturday of every month. There is a wide choice of nightclubs, wine bars, traditional pubs and restaurants and the city has a thriving nightlife. If you're feeling brave enough you can also head to the beach for a spot of windsurfing or off to the mountains to try your hand at skiing! With miles of golden beaches, historic architecture, beautiful parks and nearby mountains not to mention two world class established universities Aberdeen has something to offer everyone.
