| The Association for Geographic Information (AGI) | AGI is the national centre for geographic information. It represents the broad interests of the geographic information community in the United Kingdom. |
| Streetmap.co.uk | A very useful UK site for finding locations based on place name, postcode, lat/long, OS and Landranger grid ref etc. Some locations have aerial photos. |
| CAD & GIS Glossary | The CAD Forum provides a comprehensive GIS dictionary with search facility for keywords and terminologies. Most of the site's links are aimed at CAD. |
| Open GIS Consortium | The OGC vision is "A world in which everyone benefits from geographic information and services made available across any network, application, or platform". Their mission is "to deliver spatial interface specifications that are openly available for global use". |
| Ordnance Survey | Internet presence of Britain's national mapping agency. |
| Ask Giraffe | A UK Government funded initiative, providing a gateway to geospatial information across the UK in both the private and public sectors. Ask Giraffe is part of the National Geospatial Data Framework (NGDF). |
| GIS at About.com | About.com is a huge Internet encyclopeadia. This site provides good material on all aspects of GIS and many links to other sites as well. |
| GeoTools | GeoTools is an open source Java toolkit for developing interactive geographical maps on the internet. The emphasis is on client side mapping applets which require little or no server side support. The main file format for the moment is the ESRI shapefile. |
| Free GIS | Free GIS Org state that their motivation for their site is: "We worked with GIS and geographic data for several years and permanently fought with unsatisfactory proprietary tools. Even more problematic for Europe is the availability of geographic data. All over the internet we did not find a site dedicated to freedom concerning GIS and geographic data. Well, now there is one. |

| GISLinx's Categorized List of GIS Sites | With over 1,700 links, this site aims to provide GIS users with "a quick and easy source of information on a variety of issues". |

| GISL | GISL is a company in the UK which provides GIS and Geomatics application specialists to multi-disciplinary projects worldwide. |
| Earth and Moon Viewer | This site provides many possibilities for views of the Earth and the moon with considerable control over the production of the imegary. |
| Web 3D Repository | The term Web3d describes any programming or descriptive language that can be used to deliver interactive 3D objects and worlds across the internet (including VRML and Java3D). The Web3D Repository claims to be an impartial, comprehensive, community resource for the dissemination of information relating to Web3D (this site does not seem to have been updated for some time but is still useful nonetheless). |

| Clark Labs | Based in Clark University, Worster MA (USA), Clark Labs is the software company that produces a popular raster GIS. The pages contain some interesting links to other GIS sites. |
| Map Maker | A Scottish company with a budget product of surprising power and an interesting site with a free time-zone screen saver. |
| Positioning Resources | An Aberdeen based group with a particular interest in field mapping. Positioning Resources supply equipment and produce their own palm-top GIS application. |
| The Geographical Information Systems FAQ | All you ever wanted to know about GIS but were afraid to ask. |
| Spatial Information in Agricultural Research | A joint project of the United Nations Environment Programme, the Global Resource Information Database (UNEP/GRID) and the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). |
| Spatial Odyssey | The Spatial Odyssey site contains reference material, including the text of papers presented at a number of important conferences. There is also a list of journals which contain GIS articles, and details of how to search these. |
