About Aberdeen

Aberdeen has an excellent location. We’re situated on the north-east coast of Scotland, with the North Sea on one side and some of the country’s most beautiful countryside on the other. It’s an area that is often referred to as Scotland’s castle and whisky country. Winner of Britain in Bloom many times, Aberdeen is also a city of vibrant colour and modern shopping. It is the gateway to the Grampian area. Nearby are historic gardens, championship golf courses, excellent fishing and the majestic Cairngorm Mountains. Royal Deeside begins as you leave the city and Balmoral Castle is less than an hour’s drive away.

Getting to Aberdeen

Road and rail access to Aberdeen is good. Virgin, GNER and Scotrail connect to other UK destinations. By road from the north, the A96 from Inverness connects towns throughout the north east and Moray with Aberdeen. From the south, the main route into town is the A90 dual carriageway which connects Aberdeen to Dundee and Perth and from there through to all points south via Edinburgh, Stirling or Glasgow. Aberdeen Airport provides routes throughout the UK and direct to Europe with good connections to Paris, Amsterdam, and Dublin among others. Destinations within the UK include London (Luton, Heathrow and Gatwick), Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands, Manchester, Newcastle, and Norwich. The airport is situated seven miles north west of Aberdeen City Centre and is accessed from the A96 Aberdeen-Inverness road.
